Stay in paradise

It was my second stay when visiting my parents in South Africa and again I can only say it was a wonderful stay in paradise.
Not only are Ronelle and Johan kind and warm hearted hosts but also the setting is gorgeous as well as the beautiful cottages and rooms in the main house. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and also Wakkerstroom is a friendly village.
I look forward to coming back again

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere is this absolute gem of a place! Peace and tranquility, with beautiful sunrises, rich bird life, and everything you could ask for in terms of accommodation. Marc Cronje: Nature Travel Birding

What a magical place.  The gardens are truly spectacular with lots of birds on the doorstep.  The White-throated Swallows breeding on the veranda are so special.  I would recommend Forellenhof to all birders visiting Wakkerstroom.  Ronelle does a very tasty and scrumptious breakfast which is served on the veranda overlooking the valley with amazing views.  Her packed breakfast are also excellent and freshly made.  The gardens are teaming with birds and the Blue Cranes are often in the valley in front of the guesthouse.  

The rooms are very comfortable, clean and serviced daily.  The main house is excellent for small groups with a spacious kitchen with everything you need, a great braai area and place to relax and take in the wonderful scenery.  Ronelle is a wonderful host, and nothing is too much trouble.  The plus side is the main house has power even if there is loadshedding.

I highly recommend staying here, it's so quiet and peaceful.

60th Birthday Celebration
We were 18 family and friends celebrating my 60th. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting. Individual families stayed in privacy in their own cottages but we could all come together at the main house for meals etc. Ordered delicious croissants from the Goathouse and had an unbelievable gourmet meal at Thyme Out in the village. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Ronelle and Johan. Ronelle even printed out my thank you cards and provided home made gifts for each person in their cottage. Couldn’t have hoped for a better weekend. Thank you.

Beautiful setting and very neat accommodation. A short drive from Wakkerstroom and lovely to stay on the farm for the evening braai. Very warm and snug and emergency lights all set up for load shedding. Great weekend stay

Forellenhof is a wonderful place to stay. We very much enjoyed the quiet and peaceful situation at the cottage with the beautiful view over the pond and to the mountains in the south. The hosts are very charming and gave good hints to discover the area and make contact with old friends in Wakkerstroom. The kitchen was very well equipped (only the pans need to be replaced by heatproof ones). Birdwatching and nature in general at the place and in the area are superb.

The self-catering cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed the total peace and quiet of the farm and the fabulous views onto Wakkerstroom and the vlei!!

What a beautiful cottage Pretty Pig is, with the most magnificent views. Overlooking a small dam, morning coffee was spent watching the birds, ducks and horses. The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. We are already planning our next trip to Forellenhof in Wakkerstroom!
