A farm stay in the picturesque village of Wakkerstroom

A calm, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere in a beautiful countryside setting

Our farm is situated just outside the picturesque village of Wakkerstroom on the foot of the Versamel Mountains, less than 4 hours from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Nelspruit. It is a wonderful place to stop over en-route to or from the Drakensberg, Kruger Park, various Kwa-Zulu Natal National Parks and the Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal coast, as well as being the perfect destination to rest, relax and soothe your soul.

Kindly note that while we do not offer trout fishing on the farm, there are a number of dams in close proximity that guests can visit for angling and fly-fishing.

The best of both worlds

Total peace and tranquillity in a relaxed and friendly environment yet close to shops where you can buy local arts and crafts, beautiful decor pieces, restaurants and small bistro’s.

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere is this absolute gem of a place! Peace and tranquility, with beautiful sunrises, rich bird life, and everything you could ask for in terms of accommodation. And those breakfasts!!! Five stars. I will recommend Forellenhof to everyone. Thank you Ronelle and Johan.

Her packed breakfast are also excellent and freshly made. The gardens are teaming with... Read this review

Individual families stayed in privacy in their own cottages but we could all come together at the main house for meals etc. Ordered delicious croissants from the Goathouse and had an unbelievable gourmet meal at Thyme Out in the village. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Ronelle and... Read this review

  • Beautiful setting and very neat accommodation. A short drive from Wakkerstroom and lovely to stay on the farm for the evening braai. Very warm and snug and emergency lights all set up for load shedding. Great weekend stay
